Green Small Business exists to make a difference in the way business is conducted.
So many business leaders recognise the local and global environmental challenges we face and want to play their part in addressing them.
Many of the tools to help businesses take action on their environmental impacts are onerous, expensive and outdated.
Others are overly simplistic, do not drive the business change that is needed and generate reputational risk for the businesses that use them.
To drive authentic climate action through providing practical and impactful environmental support to businesses of all sizes, everywhere.
- We believe in business. We believe that business can play a critical role in addressing the environmental challenges we face. And we believe that doing so is great for business.
- We recognize that every business is different. We tailor our services, solutions and expectations to each individual business.
- We love technology and its role in enhancing our client experiences but it is never a substitute for real-person support.
- We think greenwash is dangerous. Dangerous for the environment and dangerous for business. We help our clients to avoid it all costs.
Tim Maiden has been an environmental consultant for more than two decades, advising governments, other public bodies and businesses on energy, waste, and climate change.
He founded Green Small Business because of his frustration about the failure of mainstream environmental management approaches to drive authentic action.

Our 2%+ commitment
Financial support for important causes is baked in to our business model. We do not give to charity when we choose to or when we decide we can afford to. Instead, a minimum 2% of all revenue (sales income) is routinely donated to good causes. In addition, we offer our services free of charge to a wide range of charities.
1% for the Planet was founded on the idea that every company has a responsibility to give back for use of our planet’s resources. 1% for the Planet is now a global network with thousands of businesses and environmental organisations working together to support people and the planet. We encourage all of our clients to join this movement and we’re proud to be members.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) translates to Doctors without Borders. They provide vital medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. MSF is an independent, politically neutral organisation, entirely reliant on the support of private individuals and organisations like us. Their work is truly incredible (find our more here) and we are proud to support them, particularly as we are so conscious of the growing health impacts of climate change.
The legal bit:
Green Small Business Ltd will donate 2% of revenue to Médecins Sans Frontières (UK) (charity number: 1026588) and 1% for the Planet, Inc. in equal proportion. This is expected to be a minimum of £1,000 for each charity per year.
